There are 9 Sub-Regional HAUCs within Wales. These Sub-Regional HAUCs were created to provide a forum for discussion on issues relevant on a Sub-Regional basis and:

To report to Welsh HAUC through the meeting of Welsh Association of Technical Officers.

To act as a local focus for Welsh HAUC.

To act as the initial advisory forum in the event of local disputes.

To monitor the performance locally of both utilities and Highway Authority under The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

To refer local initiatives to Welsh HAUC for recommended adoption regionally.

To promote mutually beneficial good working practices in the light of Welsh HAUC policy and current legislation.

To deal with specific remits from Welsh HAUC within required time scales and report back to Welsh HAUC on these.

To support local co-ordination planning meetings by providing guidance and disseminating information on relevant national, regional or sub-regional issues.
